RESEARCH  SERVICES

      The Commonwealth Poll offers custom-designed data collection on a contract basis. Clients include state agencies and non-profit organizations looking to gather objective information on the opinions, experiences, knowledge, and needs of the public.

     Clients receive:

    • Professional questionnaire design, customized to meet client needs
    • Data collection and analysis on an omnibus Commonwealth Poll
    • Executive summary, full data tables, and complete demographic information
    • Power point presentation of results (available at extra charge)

     Special design or analysis needs can be accommodated including:

    • Oversampling and special population surveys
    • Experimental tests of question design and issue framing
    • Multivariate statistical analyses

     The Commonwealth Poll provides a cost-effective way to collect data on a limited number of questions. The fee structure is based on the number of questions asked, the extent of analysis and special sampling involved.

     A large variety of surveys can also be conducted on a contract basis through the
Survey and Evaluation Research Laboratory (SERL) at VCU’s Center for Public Policy.  Established in 1982, SERL is a full-service research center for telephone, mail, and web-based surveys.  
Additional services include field interviews, focus groups, data management and web development. SERL has a permanent professional staff with extensive experience in program evaluation studies, health-related survey research, public opinion research, and data management and analysis.
